The Bazaruto Archipelago (and Mozambique as a whole) has a tropical climate, with the dry season primarily from April to September, when temperatures are usually a lovely 20°c, and October to March being the rainy season with higher temperatures of around 28°c. Due to heat and humidity we recommend visiting during the drier months, when days are dry and cooler, but if you’re an ocean-lover, diving is world-class throughout the year but whale sharks frequent the waters more in rainy season.
An ocean-lover’s paradise, the Bazaruto Archipelago offers outstanding scuba diving on its famous Two-Mile Reef, with a good chance of spotting whale sharks and a vast array of spectacular marine life. Snorkel, swim, relax and unwind on pristine white beaches. Pamper yourself in the comfort of your luxury beach lodge or villa. A holiday on the Bazaruto Archipelago is pure escapism and tranquil relaxation.
The Bazaruto Archipelago can be accessed directly from Johannesburg on an easy 2 hour flight, making it easy to combine with the ultimate Big 5 safari experience in Kruger National Park or some exciting city exploration in Cape Town. A few days of sea and sun on this idyllic island chain is the perfect way to round off a South African Safari. You can also fly directly from the Kruger National Park, making it possible for you to enjoy a Big 5 game drive in the morning, and watch the sunset of the Indian Ocean from your island beach in the evening!
