Gorilla trekking may be the main draw to Rwanda but there are some other spectacular destinations we recommend including in your itinerary, such as the stunning Lake Kivu and Nyungwe Forest National Park. Lake Kivu is within easy reach of the Volcanoes National Park for a gorilla safari, and offers an inland tropical beach and watersports destination. Nyungwe Forest National Park, just south of Lake Kivu, is one of the oldest rainforests in Africa and home to 13 different primate species. This is one of the best destinations in Africa for chimpanzee trekking. With restrictions on how long you can spend with these fascinating primates, chimp interactions are an especially unique and unforgettable experience. Kigali is the political and commercial centre of Rwanda. It almost feels removed from Africa, with high rise buildings, excellent luxury hotels and gourmet restaurants.

The best visit Rwanda is during the drier months between December & March, however temperatures are high all year round (up to around 29°c). During the drier months hiking and trekking conditions are better; chimp interactions and water sports can be enjoyed in more comfort. However still take wet weather gear as there is high humidity and weather patterns can be unpredictable.
Other than the outstanding gorilla trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda offers an array of great luxury holiday and adventure activities. Interact with chimpanzees and other primates in Nyungwe Forest National Park, soak up the sunshine on the beaches of Lake Kivu or experience the hustle and bustle of Kigali. A Rwanda safari adventure will remain in your memories forever.
