Uganda is mountainous meaning that even though it is located on the equator, temperatures are quite a lot cooler than you would think. Gorilla Trekking can be done at all times of year but we recommend the best time for gorilla trekking to be when it is drier in January/February or June/July/September. Rains can be heavy during April and May so Uganda as a whole is best avoided during these months.
Queen Elizabeth National Park offers a huge range of safari activities. A boat cruise is a must, to experience the amazing game viewing and bird sightings along the route. Spot chimpanzees and other primates in Kyambura Gorge on one of their twice-daily walks, and take the classic safari drives from your camps across the savannahs. Don’t forget the unbeatable bird viewing!
A visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park can easily be combined with a visit to the Virunga Volcanoes and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for gorilla and chimp tracking. We recommend travelling into Beautiful Rwanda and if time allows getting the full East Africa safari experience with an add on to Kenya’s Masai Mara.
