The best time to visit Tsavo is August to October, when the weather is dryer and wildlife gathers at the waterholes to drink. However game viewing is good all year round because of the vast open spaces. January/February is also a great time to visit but can be very hot and humid.
Game drives on these vast open plains offer amazing sightings of lion, red dusty elephants and all of the Big 5. Self-drive safaris can be done in the park, with good signposts and maps, but all provisions must be taken along with you including water and petrol. Mzima Springs is a must to visit; a beautiful oasis in the dusty plains where hippos love to swim and bathe.
