Kruger is an outstanding wildlife destination at all times of year but your experience will differ depending on when you choose to go. During the winter months (May to October) Kruger is dry with sparse vegetation, making for exceptional wildlife viewing. Be prepared for cold nights and early morning game drives but warm days. The summer rains come in November bringing a burst of lush greenery and the birth of many babies in the park and a wealth of bird species. Mosquitos are also in force in summer so we strongly recommend seeking medical advice for malaria prophylaxis.
By far the greatest reason to visit Kruger is the unparallelled game drives. Your chosen lodge will run scheduled drives usually in the early morning at sunrise, at sunset and night drives which are included in your accommodation rates. Specialise drives can be arranged for birding, together with nature walks and trails in certain areas. The luxurious camps provide amenities to cool you down during the midday heat – a cool drink or a dip in the pool, and the highly qualified guides are on hand to discuss the day’s sightings and to teach you everything you need to know about the African bush.
Kruger National Park is easily accessed by regional flights from Johannesburg International Airport and also from neighbouring counties. The Africa&You experts will arrange the most convenient and hassle free transfers to and from your chosen destination. A popular combination is Kruger, Cape Town and Victoria Falls to experience some of the highlights of our enchanting continent and to experience the best of Beach & Bush that Southern Africa has to offer.
