PEOPLE & CULTURE
Zambia’s contemporary culture is a blend of more than 72 ethnic groups, languages and cultural traditions. All some of the friendliest in Africa. Rural communities thrive in traditional ways of live and during colonial times the cities grew and became a melting pot of Zambia’s diverse cultural groups and, after the country gained independence in 1964, the government recognised the role culture was to play in the overall development of a new nation and began to explore the question of a National identity.
GETTING AROUND
The major airports of Lusaka and Livingstone are the gateways to the safari destinations, with bush planes connecting the national parks and luxury safari camps. Livingstone connects neighbouring destinations of Botswana and Zimbabwe with a short road transfer between countries through the small border posts, making it simple to create an itinerary through these spectacular destinations.
